Overview of 2008

Jetzt auch mit 2,9" Touch

The new larger EA DOGL128-6 modules from ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY with 128x64 points can now also be operated with EA TOUCH128-2. This is a 4-wire resistive touch that has a self-adhesive back that can be glued directly onto the display. The connection is made via an approx. 25mm long 4-pole flex cable FFC with a pitch of 1.0mm. On these 4 pins 4 electrodes are led out along the sides "left", "right" and "above", "below". A suitable zero force plug is included in the delivery program.
Either a µcontroller with analog inputs or an external touch panel controller can be used for evaluation. The touch panel works like a potentiometer. The resistance of the two touch levels is a few hundred ohms. There are 2 steps to determine the print position. For the horizontal position, the electrodes "left" and "right" are connected to a voltage of e.g. 3.3V and can then measure the position value at "above" or "below". For the vertical position, a voltage is applied to "top" and "bottom" and the position value is then measured at "left" or "right".
For best readability, a backlit display is recommended when using a touch panel. The LED backlights for the DOGL modules are available in the colors white, yellow / green, blue, red, amber, green and full-color RGB and ensure excellent readability thanks to their extreme brightness and low power consumption. ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY has a wide variety of designs in its chip-on-glass DOG family. The slightly smaller DOGM series is also available with 128x64 points and also with touch, as well as the version with 132x32 points and 3 text displays with 1x8, 2x16 and 3x16 characters. In total, you have over 200 possible combinations with these products.
The above modules are usually available from stock.

Compact HMI for industry ?

TFT displays have not only established themselves in cell phones, cameras and PDAs. It is understandable that the industry would also like to increasingly use color displays. The displays are cheap and available in a wide variety of sizes. Marketing and managing directors are enthusiastic.
But when the developers take a closer look at the display, the decision is often not made against a color display. This is because the effort required to control the display requires a PC-like system. The costs for this are quickly 3 to 5 times the price of the display. The high power consumption and long boot times also make this solution unwieldy. In addition, the development is associated with a very considerable, own software effort, which is simply too expensive for small and medium quantities below several 1000 pieces.
The only way to integrate a TFT display into a typical microcontroller system is offered by ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY with the EA eDIPTFT43-A. This is a ready-to-use TFT display with 4.3 ". It optionally offers a touch panel including all control components, all in one unit. With 107x71mm, this complete HMI is extremely compact. Alternatively, a black anodized panel is available. The display also runs + 5V (max. 180mA) and provides 3 different interfaces RS-232, I²C and SPI for connection. In addition to various fonts, powerful graphic functions are already integrated and can be used immediately. Images with up to 65536 colors can be instantly sent as JPEG, BMP and GIF (including animation) can be integrated into the internal FLASH. The touch panel and the integrated touch controller make the display an unusually versatile operating unit. The operating temperature range is designed for -20 .. + 70 ° C. Long availability and extremely high quality standards are evidence of this from the target markets of industry, automotive and medicine.

Die schönsten Grafikdisplays

Can be found in the EA DOG series. The super bright lighting is extremely even and available in a wide variety of colors. Full-color RGB lighting is also included. The contrast and viewing angle of the STN and FSTN displays leave nothing to be desired - even more: the incredibly compact design and the integrated graphics controller with SPI interface make use child's play. The displays are simply soldered directly to a circuit board, and ready-to-use fonts and initialization routines are available for programming.
A test board with USB and free simulation software for Windows are also available. The low power consumption of 150 ~ 350uA (depending on the display size) with single supply + 3.3V is outstanding. No auxiliary voltages are required. The contrast is automatically kept constant even with fluctuating supply voltage and over the entire temperature range. The setting is made once via software.

Since the displays were developed for industrial applications, they offer a wide operating temperature range of -20 .. + 70 ° C. A matching touch panel is optionally available. ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY currently offers displays from the DOG series with 132x32 and 128x64 dots (2 different sizes). With 7 different lights there is something for every design. The white lighting is e.g. ideal for battery-operated devices, because it supplies enough light from a current of just 5 mA. Last but not least, all displays from 1 piece in all colors are available from stock.
