Compact Modbus indicator

DISPLAY VISIONS has developed a particularly compact Modbus display module. The module is equipped with a 4.3 inch, bright and perfectly readable display. This makes it ideal for use on programmable logic controllers (PLCs), offered by many manufacturers like Siemens, Beckhoff, Panasonic, etc.
The new display module from DISPLAY VISIONS supports the communication formats Modbus/TCP and Modbus/RTU. Accordingly, it is equipped with interfaces for WiFi, LAN and RS-485. The brilliant IPS display is characterised by a high brightness of around 1,000 cd/m2 and all-round readability. In terms of power supply, the new Modbus panel meter offers optimum flexibility – the unit can be operated with any DC power supply in the voltage range from 5 V to 30 V DC. In a market dominated by products with much larger screens (15 inches and more), DISPLAY VISIONS opens up new possibilities with its Modbus indicator in a wall-mounted housing with a diagonal screen size of 4.3 inches and allows the design of very compact and, above all, cost-effective HMI units. In order to meet the demand for further small displays, the manufacturer has announced that 7-inch versions, for example, will also be included in its range.

Smart HMI small control systems for integration

Smart HMI small control systems for integration
With the uniTFT touch displays from DISPLAY VISIONS you can complete control tasks in no time at all. Graphics and I/O controllers are both already integrated in these smart displays.
With the HMI displays in the uniTFT series, DISPLAY VISIONS offers brilliant graphics displays and intelligent small control systems in one. Thanks to the integrated I/O and high-performance graphics controller, users can implement complete control applications without the need for additional µC or PLC. There are no limits to how these can be used – whether for building automation, control panels in mobile homes and fitness appliances or controlling industrial production processes.
The uniTFT displays master logical and arithmetic operations and data communication and storage. They also have four analogue inputs and eight freely programmable inputs or outputs (3.3 V). They have external sensors and microcontrollers to communicate via I2C, SPI, RS232 and USB ports. The models up to 4.3-inch store your data in internal flash memories; the displays from 5-inch to 10.1-inch also have a micro-SD slot. There is also an audio output for acoustic alerts. The operating voltage is 3.3 V only.
Thanks to state-of-the-art IPS technology, the optimal viewing angle is an impressive 170° horizontally as well as vertically. This means that the displays show an image with the colour and contrast just as they should be, even from very peripheral perspectives. With typical brightness of 1,000 cd/m², they are also still easy to read in situations with unfavourable ambient light. Their touch screens have multi-touch control.
The smart uniTFT displays are available in graduated sizes from 1.5” to 10.1”, with resolutions between 240x240 RGB pixels and 1,280x800 pixels. For programming, DISPLAY VISIONS has provided the WYSIWYG editor uniTFTDesigner free of charge. Simulators, debuggers, instrument and clock editors as well as numerous examples, ready-made graphics and animations are already implemented in this high-performance development environment.

Small control systems with touch display

The slim PLC control of the DISPLAY VISIONS PLC series already has the touch display integrated. In addition, it can be wirelessly connected to up to 50 satellite displays. This allows processes to be monitored and controlled wherever they are.
Normally, the programming of small control systems and the reading out of their parameters is associated with some effort. Not so with DISPLAY VISIONS’ PLC series. The central control unit, also named as the "core", has a coloured touch display already integrated in it. The brilliant 2.8-inch IPS panel is easy to read from almost any viewing angle (reading angle 170°) and even in direct sunlight. It’s not only able to display the measurement and process data, but also serves to input control commands and operating parameters thanks to its touch-sensitive surface. The core has eight digital inputs, 4 analogue inputs (4-20 mA and 0-10 V) and 4 relay outputs. It communicates via the RS 485 or Ethernet interface and can also be accessed wirelessly via WiFi. Up to 50 satellite terminals can be automatically connected to the central control unit. Depending on the complexity of the input and output data, satellites with different display sizes are available, from the 1.5" display with 240x240 pixels, which is just smaller than a postage stamp, to the 10.1" panel with a resolution of 1,280x800 pixels. The satellites automatically synchronise with the core in real time and are individually configurable. For example, one point could be displaying operating data for the service, while one of the satellites at another point is used for work preparation and entering new parameters.
All touch and display functions can be programmed freely with the free Windows tool "PLC Designer" WYSIWYG. Numerous prefabricated elements support the construction of individual and even animated pages. The central control unit EA PLCC28 is designed for top hat rail mounting and is only 5 HP wide. There are various housings available for the satellite terminals for installation in other devices and for surface mounting.

35 mW: Colour low power display for mobile devices

The newly developed 2.4-inch TFT colour display is particularly suitable for mobile use due to its low energy consumption. It requires only 10 mA power consumption at 3.3 V and shows sharp contrasts even in sunlight.
With the EA TFT024-23ATNN, DISPLAY VISIONS GmbH has a particularly economical colour display for use in mobile devices in its range. It is very easy to read both with and without backlight. Without backlight, the power consumption is only 35 mW. During an eight-hour working day, this burdens a LiPo battery with no more than 75 mAh. The positive TFT panel with a white background can be operated both in colour and in black and white. As a transflective display, it also uses the incident light for a high-contrast display in addition to the integrated backlight. Even in bright sunlight, the display can therefore be clearly read from wide angles.
The resolution of the 2.4 inch display is 240x320 RGB pixels. It is a total of about 43 mm wide and 60 mm high. It is connected to the driver electronics via a FPC cable. In addition to the standard RGB interface, a pin-saving 4-wire SPI interface and a parallel µC data bus with 8- or 16-bit width are available.
For SMD mounting, there are suitable connectors available as accessories.
The TFT colour display is designed for professional use and can be used in a wide operating temperature range from -20° to +70°C. Its service life is 50,000 hours.
The height of only 3 mm allows for a flat design and the very narrow edges of the display make the best use of the available space – ideal for a smart hand-held device. The new display is now available and, as with all its products, DISPLAY VISIONS also guarantees long-term availability and comprehensive support with this economical colour display.

High contrast from all sides

Conventional LCD displays are very angle dependent. If they are tilted to the side, contrast is reduced and the colours distort. This isn’t the case with the IPS panels from DISPLAY VISIONS GmbH, though. With this new technology, the colours are preserved and the contrasts remain sharp, even when viewed from the side and at an angle.

When using mobile devices in particular, the light conditions and viewing angles aren’t always optimal. With its EA TFT series, DISPLAY VISIONS has therefore launched a series of compact mini-graphics displays that offer a high-contrast display from all angles. Due to the special alignment of the liquid crystals, neither the colours nor the contrast shift, even when viewed sideways and at an angle, as is the case with conventional TN panels, for example. And thanks to the 1,000 cd/m² bright backlight, the displays also stay easy to read in direct sunlight. Despite this, the use of highly efficient LEDs means they are also very economical in terms of power consumption. This makes them ideal for use in mobile devices.

DISPLAY VISIONS currently offers its new IPS displays in nine different sizes (0.96” to 10.1”) and with resolutions of 80x160 to 1,280x800 pixels. And even the smallest sizes can be combined with a capacitive touch panel.

The compact displays are easy to operate using an SPI interface. Alternatively, a connection via RGB, 8-bit or 16-bit data bus is also possible. A range of displays is also available as a complete HMI solution with an SPI, RS-232 or USB connection, as well as various inputs and outputs.

Designed for heavy-duty industrial and medical applications, these displays can be operated at a wide range of temperatures from -20°C to +70°C. Their service life is 50,000 hours. All the EA TFT displays are available now and for the long term. And the experts at DISPLAY VISIONS are naturally available to assist their customers in the case of complex applications.
