4.3 inch wall-mounted touch display module

Very inexpensive, modern control unit including touch feature for wall and front panel mounting. Encased 4.3 inch bright IPS display with WiFi and RS 485. Ideal for controlling and monitoring devices and systems remotely
The new EA PLCS43-DS from DISPLAY VISIONS supports EDGE computing thanks to built-in intelligence. Typical user screens are stored directly in the display and therefore run without delay and smoothly at all times. Data is transmitted via the RS 485 and WiFi interfaces. These displays are also available with a LAN interface optionally. An unregulated voltage between 5 V and 24 V is a sufficient power supply.
With just under 1,000 cd/m², the touch panel is easy to read even if the sun is shining directly on the display. With a 170° viewing angle, it is no longer necessary to stand right in front of the display – you can even read it easily from the side. No wrong colours or grey inversion effect make reading more difficult, as with conventional colour displays.
The screen contents and touch functions are compiled using a free tool, uniTFTdesigner, and loaded into the display. Large numbers as measured values, diagrams and easy-to-use keys can be implemented in multiple languages by the software.
The compact display (114 x 84 x 15.5 mm) is fixed by simply mounting it on the wall like a picture or using the clamp corner in a front panel. It is possible to mount them in front panels up to 6 mm thick. More compact integration directly into a device is also available by connecting it using a flex cable (SPI, I²C or RS-232). Other display sizes from 1.5 inch to 10.1 inch are in the pipeline.

Module integrates display, command input and application logic

DISPLAY VISIONS combines the input of control commands and the display of measured values or parameters into one single component. The uniTFT smart touch display product range can both receive and output data. With integrated I/O and graphics controllers, users can even implement complete small-scale control without additional hardware.
The range of possible applications is enormous. The small-scale controller masters arithmetic and logic operations as well as data communication and storage; in combination with its brilliant colour display and its integrated touch screen for data input, you can implement countless applications without great effort. Examples are switches and controls in home automation as well as control panels in mobile homes, fitness equipment or in the renewable energy sector. There are also more applications in industrial automation. These components can also be easily integrated into larger, more complex systems and networks. The smart uniTFT displays are equipped with a selection of the most common interfaces such as I2C, SPI, RS232 and USB. These enable data exchange with external sensors or microcontrollers. The small controllers can receive measured values and issue control commands via four analogue inputs and eight freely definable I/O interfaces. The number of these I/Os can be expanded up to 136.
With a typical brightness of 1,000 cd/m2, the uniTFT displays offer a high brightness screen, that is easy to read, even in direct sunlight. All Angle Colour Stability (AACS) technology ensures that screen content can be seen from virtually any direction without loss of quality or contrast. The optically bonded capacitive touch surface allows the implementation of multi-gestures for intuitive communication with the device. In addition, the displays can also draw attention to themselves acoustically by means of a built-in audio output and, for example, signal an emergency situation.
DISPLAY VISIONS provides the Windows tool uniTFTDesigner for free for programming applications. This means that impressive touch and display functions can be used, as well as animations. Pre-made images, fonts, menus and log files can be stored in the integrated flash memory of the uniTFT displays. Demo packs with numerous application examples are also available.
The uniTFT displays are designed as built-in devices. They are available in graduated screen diagonals from 1.5 inches to 10.1 inches. DISPLAY VISIONS guarantees long-term availability and comprehensive customer service directly from Germany.

Communicative mini controllers

PLC controllers mostly work as “black boxes” in the control cabinet. The various sensors and actuators connected do their jobs with no noise whatsoever. Gaining insight into what’s going on involves a great deal of effort, to a greater or lesser extent. The new PLC mini control unit family from DISPLAY VISIONS is particularly communicative: the controller itself has a colour touchscreen display, and addresses up to 50 remote satellite displays – to allow supervising, setup and completely customised views.
The PLC family central control unit, “Core”, is as simple as the name suggests, and communicates your measurement and process data via a brilliant 2.8 inch IPS display. This has a touch panel for you to enter control commands and parameters, and is networked with the satellite units automatically. For this, the Core has Ethernet capabilities and an RS-485 interface, and it can also communicate wirelessly via WiFi. The measurement values and parameters are updated automatically as well. Here, the function of the satellite terminals is not linked to one location; instead this is assigned via software, allowing you to visualise process data, for example, via any connected display, or enter parameter data via a different device. Depending on the complexity of the input and output data, users can choose from displays of different sizes for the satellites. A 4.3” display is available now, but the product range will soon be expanded to seven versions with sizes ranging between 2” and 10.1”. All versions stand out thanks to their excellent readability, even in sunlight, and a wide viewing angle of 160 degrees. You can choose from versions for various mounting forms (wall, flush-mount, top-hat rail).
The Core is designed for top-hat rail mounting and can be installed effortlessly in any control cabinet. For programming, the Windows PLCdesigner tool is available free of charge. It has a graphic WYSIWYG editor with numerous ready-made elements, allowing you to put together custom pages. You can also use this tool to adjust the brightness of the connected display.

IPS Displays on Raspberry Zero

DISPLAY VISIONS allows for easy connection of small displays from 1.5" directly to the Raspberry Pi Zero and the Raspberry Pi Zero 2. All monitor outputs from the small computer are automatically redirected to an high-quality industrial grade IPS display. Linux is used as an operating system.
As a result, individual, compact applications are also able to produce output on a small colour display. Furthermore, inputs are even possible, including through a touch panel integrated into the display. The programming language for applications is Python or C, as is typical for Raspberry.
To make it easy to get started, DISPLAY VISIONS offers a RaZeroTFT starter package. It consists of an interface board and a suitable 1.5", 2", 2.8" or 3.5" display. The displays are equipped with a capacitive touch panel, with the exception of the smallest display. At 1,000 cd/m², the displays are extremely bright and easy to read, even in sunlight. Thanks to IPS technology, they provide brilliant colours in all viewing directions. All displays can be installed horizontally or vertically.
An SD card with the appropriate files for the Raspberry Zero is also included in the scope of delivery. The displays are therefore ready to run immediately and start a slide show with drawing function for the touch panel after the Linux boot process. The background lighting can be dimmed as required.
The interface board can be separated into two parts, making it possible to later install the display a piece away from the Raspberry Zero in the application. The display and the Raspberry Zero are then connected to one another using a slim flex cable (127 mm long).

Small IPS displays bright and in color with SPI interface

DISPLAY VISION's compact graphic display TFT015-22AI is bright and sharp, but economical in power consumption. Its IPS panel scores highly thanks to its all-round viewing angle and readability in sunlight.
The active area of the IPS colour display measures just 28 mm square. But despite this small size, the resolution of 240x240 pixels provides a detailed and crisp graphic display with 16 bit colour resolution. The maximum brightness of 1,100 cd/m² ensures a high-contrast display even under extreme light conditions, such as in bright sunlight or under operating room lamps. Unlike other LCD screens, the contrast of this IPS panel remains nearly the same even at very oblique viewing angles thanks to the AACS technology. The external installation dimensions are 32x35x3.2 mm.
The 16 bit RGB, 18 bit or 8 bit parallel and SPI interfaces are available for control. The supply voltage is 3.3 V. Due to the low current consumption, typically 20 to 80 mA, the compact colour displays are ideal for installation in battery-operated handheld devices. And this over a wide temperature range from -20 to 70 °C.
The coloured IPS panel is also available with a capacitive touch screen surface in the form of the TFT015-22AITC. At 44x46x3.5 mm, it is somewhat larger but its maximum brightness – 1,000 cd/m² – is only slightly lower. On the other hand, the glued touch screen surface protects it even better against external weather influences.
It is assembled by simply sticking it in place. For testing purposes or to quickly and easily connect to various microcontrollers, DISPLAY VISIONS also offers a test and adapter board with corresponding software for these displays (9782-1USB). TFT015-22AI and TFT015-22AITC are available in any amount from 1 piece upwards for immediate delivery. DISPLAY VISIONS guarantees availability for at least ten years.

Versatile displays for PCB mounting

With the EA DOG series, DISPLAY VISIONS has a range of flat, modern COG displays with an integrated driver. Modest power consumption and usable in 3.3 V systems, they are particularly suitable as displays in handheld devices.
The compact text and graphic LCDs are less than 3 mm thick. Designed as chip-on-glass displays, the controller is already integrated into these displays. The text displays come with built-in character sets. These high-contrast displays can be soldered directly onto the PCB. They run with 3.3 V without auxiliary voltage and the current consumption is between 150 and 900 µA depending on the model and size. They are controlled using a 3 or 4-wire SPI, or, for some models, even using a 2-wire I²C or 4 or 8-bit data bus.
The text and graphic displays are currently available in 13 different sizes, from 55x31 mm to 94x67 mm. This includes 6 text displays with one to four lines and 7 graphic displays with resolutions between 102x64 pixels to 240x128 pixels. There are five high-contrast LCDs to choose from: reflective and transmissive STN, STN with blue background and black/white positive and negative FSTN. The contrast voltage can be set by command. Graphic displays can also be rotated 180° for mechanical reasons or to make them easier to read, for example for installation in the front of a laboratory power supply unit. The EA DOG displays can also be combined with a touch screen.
For the backlight, the user has a choice of 6 colours. White, yellow/green, blue, amber, red and full-colour RGB. Simply place the backlight behind the display and solder it into the PCB with the display. No additional fastening is required. Operation of backlight is either via an external series resistor or an LED driver. Meaningful operation is possible from 3 mA.
All panel variants are available from just one piece. DISPLAY VISIONS GmbH guarantees long-term availability of up to 10 years. This also ensures replenishment for product lines designed to be long term.
A free simulator is available to download on the manufacturer’s website. It allows you to simulate all display versions and colours on your Windows PC before buying. A USB test board is also available for an easy start with a real display. This allows your own text to be shown on the connected display straight away. DISPLAY VISIONS also supports the developers with comprehensive support and extensive C and micro-controller code.
