Smart color dwarf with SPI & I²C

The company ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY is expanding its range of fully graphic TFT displays: The new size of the "small one" is 3.2 '' just big enough to e.g. to process important measurement information graphically, but still small enough to be used in handheld applications.

The advantages of the TFT display EA eDIPTFT32-A from ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY are obvious: Very simple control of the display via one of three integrated interfaces, RS-232 (CMOS level for direct connection to a microcontroller), SPI and I²C. Built-in graphic functions such as "Draw a rectangle from x1 | y1 to x2 | y2". Integrated memory for storing images, animations, macros, menu structures, fonts and and and .... The display can take over the complete menu navigation, the optional touch panel is necessary for this and expands the display to a complete HMI. The touch evaluation is of course integrated in the intelligent display. The technology of the touch panel is based on a resistive design, which brings clear advantages, such as operability with a glove, with dry hands or a pen.

Potential application area of ​​the EA eDIPTFT32-A: The display is predestined for handheld application. The power consumption at full brightness is below 1W, and has a large input voltage range of 3.3V to 5V. The brightness of up to 700 cd / m² not only makes it possible to use outdoors, it is also easy to read. The temperature range from -20 ° C to + 70 ° C speaks for itself on a TFT display with 65536 colors.

Many control and measurement tasks can be carried out with a simple microcontroller, but output on a color TFT display is only possible - if at all - with very intensive and time-consuming development work. ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY has the solution: The EA eDIP series. These intelligent displays have already integrated the control routines.

The built-in intelligence of the displays extremely shortens time-to-market and saves you valuable time and money.

Users who have already made experience with other EA eDIP displays can take over their knowledge and functions one to one, the commands and control routines can continue to be used without changes. Of course, we paid attention to 100% pin compatibility.

Various colours from 1 pc. off

Coloured displays are in. But not all applications do allow a TFT display and it's also not always reasonable. Besides to the typical minimum order quantities and the huge development effort for a TFT, it makes absolutely sense to have a look at the DOG familiy from ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY.

Those monochrome but however colored display series was especially designed for industrial and medical needs. The displays are easy to connect and drive (SPI or I²C). They are available from 1 piece off. The German stock makes them permanent available without lead time.

Another advantage for this display family is the perfect readablity even under direct sun light. In fact when backlight is switched off, theses displays can be read excellent. The displays are long-term available and do not need a high-performance uCsystem. A graphic ontroller with RAM is built-in.
Because this display series contains more than 40 different types (all made for 3.3V supply), a cost-free simulator software with configurator is available. This helps for the choice of display size and colour. Also available is an USB test board for immediate operation without any software or hardware expense.
The DOG family spans character and graphic types with the formats of 1x8, 2x16, 102x64, 128x64, 160x104 and some others more. By the way, the display and the backlight are shipped seperately. Together with the 6 different LED backlights a lot various coloured display designs become true. Even a full coloured RGB backlight for special requirements is available as a standard.

The latest member EA DOGXL160-7 is a 3.3“ display, which is set up ultra compact. Thanks to the pins with a pitch of 1/10“ (2.54mm) cost-effective standard material can be used all the time. After all this display alternatively can be interfaced via SPI (3- or 4-wire) also. Even with this small size an analogue touch panel is available. All touch areas are defined by software. With that any inputs can be done in a smart way.

I2C bus not nearly dead

The widespread I²C bus insert since long in LCD display world. The latest member EA DOGXL160-7 is a 3.3" display, which is set up ultra compact. It's outline dimensions are 78x64x6.5mm only and even so the prototyping process and mass production process are very easy. Thanks to the pins with a pitch of 1/10" (2.54mm) cost-effective standard material can be used all the time. After all this display alternatively can be interfaced via SPI (3- or 4-wire) also. With the help of 6 different LED backlights, which will be ordered seperately, the engineer enables to realize many different color designs from 1 pc. off. All backlights are extreme bright, wonderful even and nevertheless reliable for 24-hour continous operation. For special application a full colored RGB backlight is available also. The resolution of 160x104 dots provides lots of space for text and graphic. Even with this small size an analogue touch panel is available. All touch areas are defined by software. With that any inputs can be done in a smart way. Congenial to this professional display series ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY provides many development tools. From the gratis Simulator software for Windows, via an USB test board and character set with font editor, to lots of programming examples. The power supply is single 2.6 ~ 3.3V. Current consumption is typ. 700uA. Further display sizes as character and graphic types are available.
