This is the new solution: put the graphic display and the backlight together and solder into the pc board. An extra mounting is no longer required. The new graphics displays from DOG-series do provide a resolution of 128x64 dots. The mechanical mounting as well as the electrical contact is done via the 26 pins, pitch 1/10 inch. Simple and reliable. Connection is done via serial interface SPI. Data transmission rate is up to 20MHz without any busyflag operation. The displays do have very compact outline dimension of 55x46mm and an extreme narrow edge. There's a low-power graphics controller built-in already. The modern chip design leads to a power consumption of 150uA only (single supply 3.3V). There is no additional voltage required and contrast is held stady over unsteady supply voltage and ambient temperature automatically. Contrast adjustment is done via software control. Operating temperature range is from -20 up to +70°C. ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY do provide some fitting white, blue, yellow/green, amber and red modules for backlighting. Even a full color RGB is available. All those are LED design and easy stick together. They do provide highest intensity and even illumination. Switching on and off or dimming can be done all the time. The white backlight is perfect for all battery powered systems, because already with 3mA brigthness gives total satisfaction. Those combination of various display technologies (positive, negative, blue, green, black) and different backlight colors (white, blue, amber, yellow/green, red) enables widest flexibility in design.
