TFT displays with I²C-Bus interface are available in the EA eDIP series and EA uniTFT displays. The I2C-Bus is widely used as standard. Via several addresses various components can be addressed directly, e.g. also a TFT display with built-in intelligence. The data transfer rate is absolutely sufficient.
Colour TFT displays are easy to control with I²C bus (only 2 lines).
