A ray of hope underground
In many mines around the world, no worker goes down the shaft without a modern wireless communication device. In many places, the Miner Communicator CommTrac from Strata Worldwide has established itself in harsh underground operations. The display unit, one of the central components of this communication device, comes from the German display specialist DISPLAY VISIONS (formerly ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY).
Mining, especially underground mining, is not an industry like any other. Even in the 21st century, mining coal or ore is still a dangerous activity in which the shift supervisor must be informed about the situation on site at all times. Not only to direct operations and deploy miners and equipment as efficiently as possible, but also to have as complete a picture as possible of the situation immediately in the event of an incident: What has happened? The US company Strata Worldwide, a recognised specialist for technically sophisticated products and technologies to improve safety in mining operations, has developed its own radio technology for this purpose: CommTrac.
