Crimp force monitoring improves the quality of crimping

Crimping technology is a widely used connection technique in the electrical/electronics industry. In addition to the best electrical values, it offers a high level of mechanical safety - provided that the crimping process is carried out correctly. Zoller + Fröhlich GmbH supplies the CK 01 crimp force monitoring system for this purpose, in which the DISPLAY VISIONS display module plays a key role in visual monitoring by the worker.

Zoller + Fröhlich GmbH has over 50 years of expertise in the field of cable crimping. Not only were high-quality wire-end ferrules "Made in Germany" invented and continue to be manufactured at the Wangen site in the Allgäu region, but also machines for their precise processing.

The company recently introduced the CK 01 crimp force monitoring system, which guarantees very good, consistent quality during automatic stripping and crimping. Among other things, this is only possible thanks to real-time monitoring of the crimps and their graphical processing. A key component for this is the EA eDIPTFT43-ATP colour display from long-standing partner DISPLAY VISIONS GmbH in Gilching near Munich.

The role of process monitoring

Process monitoring and documentation are becoming increasingly important in times of ISO and the like. In the aircraft industry, for example, every crimp connection must be checked. It must be ensured that the function is not negatively affected in any way, e.g. by missing strands, insulation in the crimp contact, incorrect crimp depth, inaccurate wire size or an insufficient stripping length...
